AMD CPU fans will likely have to be patient as the Ryzen AI 300 chips that AMD showed off at Computex 2024 that will enable the Copilot experience will apparently not be available at launch.
Regarding this, it seems that laptops that come with the Ryzen AI chipset will not immediately carry the Copilot+ feature when they are first launched, but according to Toms HardwareAMD clarified that “Copilot+ will be available later this year via Windows Update”.
Not yet Copilot+ Certified
One of the reasons why the Copilot+ feature is not yet available is because the AMD Ryzen AI 300 chip does not yet have AI certification from Microsoft, so users who choose this processor will not enjoy the Copilot+ features.
So, even though the NPU of the Ryzen AI 300 offers 50 TOPS which is certainly better than the 45 TOPS of the Snapdragon
Even so, of course users can still take advantage of the AI capabilities of the Ryzen AI 300 processor through third party software, for example Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Blender, which will likely utilize the Ryzen AI 300 NPU Core to access the AI features in it.
With that, if you are interested in buying a device with a Ryzen AI 300 chipset, you have to be patient at least until the end of this year to get the various Copilot+ features that Microsoft promises in Windows 11.
