For those who don't know, Microsoft provides Windows Development Environment which is available in four variants. virtual machine namely VMware, Hyper-V Gen 2, Parallels Desktop, and VirtualBox.

The Virtual Machine is generally a trial version of Window 11 Enterprise (Evaluation) which also presents a number of additional tools including Visual Studio 2022 Community Edition with UWP, .NET Desktop, Azure, and Windows App SDK for C# workloads enabled, Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 enabled with Ubuntu installed, Windows Terminal installed, and Developer mode enabled.

However, Microsoft recently announced that due to technical issues, the VMWare and Parallels Desktop versions of Windows Development Environment will not be available starting July 15, 2024.

Due to ongoing technical issues, downloads for VMWare and Parallels will be temporarily unavailable starting July 15, 2024

However, if you are a user of this Microsoft-shared Virtual Machine, you don't need to worry because you can still download the latest release for VMware and Parallels, version 2404 which will be activated until July 15, 2024.

So, if it's past that date, you have to get used to notifications and commands to activate. Then keep in mind that even though you have a license and serial number, the version of this virtual machine is Windows 11 Enterprise (Evaluation) so you can't activate the system.
